Treatment Plan (Summary)

A treatment plan of a possible show idea.

Summary

This show will be in the point of view of the individual. It will simply reflect on a surfer’s day getting ready for the surf and the feelings that are evoked while surfing. It will illustrate meditation in a form. It will relate to meditation because the surfer will be using his mind and body to focus on one particular task.

Scenario

Daylight has just broken in over the horizon. A young man is getting ready for a day of relaxation and peace at his place of tranquility -- the beach, a place to clear his mind and focus on with the simple sport of surfing. He gets to the beach; seagulls are flying overhead. The sun’s rays are just peaking over the dunes; - nothing can ruin this day. He paddles out diving with his board under the first set of breakers, taking a deep breath each time. After finally getting to a lull and bringing himself together he waits for that perfect wave. He lets one go by. Then another. Waiting for the right moment, he finally sees one in the distance. His heart is beating, his hands pulling the water pushing him faster and faster forward. He finally feels in tune with the water, his board, and his body. He is now moving standing up going through a tube, the only thing on his mind is the moment he is in. He is in nature’s beauty, touching the sea wall that has just formed on all sides of him as he glides through the water. The only thing he can hear is his breathing, bringing him to serenity knowing nothing can ruin this moment. He is living in the now. He falls down after this wave. He gets back up and repeats a couple of times. Now, the waves are simmering down and it is time to head home. The surfer walks back on to the beach with his board. He sits down on the sand and watches the waves. Fade out.
